Program overview

Interested in careers in AI, tech, or manufacturing? This Career Project with MxD, America’s Digital Manufacturing and Cybersecurity Institute, allows you to try out a real job in tech: data annotation.

You’ll step into the role of a Data Annotator, the person behind the scenes helping AI systems learn how to “see” the world. In this hands-on project, you’ll label images and text, just like in real AI training, understand how annotated data helps machines make smart decisions, and explore how this skill is used in real manufacturing workplaces.

Plus, you’ll meet an expert from MxD who’ll guide you through the challenge and show you how this work fits into the future of digital manufacturing and automation.

Whether you’re curious about tech jobs or STEM careers or just want to see how AI is used in factories, this Career Project is a great way to get started.

What's included

This Career Project gives you the chance to try out a real task connected to data annotation. You’ll gain practical experience and get an understanding of some fundamental methods in data annotation, whilst finding out more! 

Along the way, you’ll apply data annotation techniques to a real-world scenario–allowing you to understand just how important it can be.

Meet Your Mentor

Kick things off by meeting your MxD expert! They’ll share what it’s like to work in AI and digital manufacturing, how data annotation powers smart factories, and how you can start building skills for a future in tech.

Project Brief

Now it’s your turn. Your mentor will break down the challenge into three parts—image labeling, text tagging, and spotting key items in a factory scene. You’ll get all the context and tools you need to get started.

Project Debrief

Finished the task? Great work! You’ll be able to see your mentor walk through how a pro would tackle it. You’ll get insider tips, innovative thinking, and a downloadable model answer to compare and learn.

When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

Once you have applied for your program, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be notified about the outcome of your application via email at least 3 days before the program start date. Good luck!

Can I apply to multiple program?

Yes, you can sign up to multiple program with Springpod.

Who can take part in the program?

Most of our program require students to be in school/college. Some program require students to be based in specific regions of the UK, this is stipulated by the organisations themselves, and is not defined by Springpod.

However, the ages mentioned on our programs are more of a guideline than a strict limit. As such, we more than welcome older students to apply as well!

Will I receive a certificate on completion of the program?

You will receive a certificate on completion of your program. It will be made available to download whenever your program is marked as complete.
