This virtual work experience, created with Citizens, gives you an inside look at how a major U.S. financial institution supports customers, communities, and colleagues every day. You’ll explore a wide range of roles — from customer-facing jobs in branches and contact centers to behind-the-scenes teams like technology, data, finance, marketing, and HR.

Whether you’re interested in working directly with customers or prefer roles that focus on innovation, analysis, or business strategy, this program will help you understand how banking really works — and where you might fit in.

This virtual work experience is split into eight modules and is designed to help you explore careers while building real-world skills. You’ll learn how Citizens operates as a business, discover different career paths, and take part in interactive activities that reflect real workplace situations.

Introduction to Citizens

Get to know Citizens — who they are, what they do, and how they support customers across the U.S. This module introduces Citizens’ mission, values, culture, and commitment to inclusion, helping you understand what it’s like to work for the organization.

Technology & Innovation at Citizens

Explore how technology powers a modern bank. Learn about roles like Software Developer, Cybersecurity Analyst, and Data Analyst, and discover how teams use digital tools, data, and security systems to improve customer experience and protect information.

Corporate & Support Functions

Go behind the scenes and uncover the roles that keep Citizens running smoothly. From Risk & Compliance and Finance to Marketing, Communications, and Human Resources, this module shows how corporate teams support customers, colleagues, and business success.

Retail & Customer-Facing Roles

Discover what it’s like to work directly with customers. Learn about roles such as Teller, Personal Banker, Customer Service Specialist, and Digital Specialist, and see how these teams help people manage their finances, build trust, and use digital banking tools confidently.

Career Pathways at Citizens

Find out how to get started at Citizens. This module covers early career programs, internships, part-time roles, and alternate entry routes, along with tips on applying, interviewing, and standing out during the recruitment process.

When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

Once you have applied for your program, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be notified about the outcome of your application via email at least 3 days before the program start date. Good luck!

Can I apply to multiple programs?

Yes, you can sign up to multiple program with Springpod.

Who can take part in the program?

Most of our program require students to be in school/college. Some program require students to be based in specific regions of the UK, this is stipulated by the organisations themselves, and is not defined by Springpod.

However, the ages mentioned on our programs are more of a guideline than a strict limit. As such, we more than welcome older students to apply as well!

Will I receive a certificate on completion of the program?

You will receive a certificate on completion of your program. It will be made available to download whenever your program is marked as complete.
